In Milwaukee, the comeback is creating a buzz. Stores are depleted of their stock within days, they're taking names for waiting lists and limiting customers to just a few six- or 12-packs each.

This has won a number of design awards, and rightfully so, as it is just good fucking design. This is not a photoshop job, but is actual signage painted on the walls and ground.

One of the easiest things to set me off (just ask Mrs. Haydesigner) is when I encounter piss-poor signage and/or directions (airports and parking garages seem to be the worst in this respect (airport parking garages being the penultimate)). Do the owners/engineers never actually use this places after they are built? This show why usability design is so important in virtually every aspect of everyday life. Things can be so easier...

A couple different images at their site:

(I do wonder a bit how it will look once it gets dirtier there, and has tire tracks over the bits on the ground)
