The Wall Street Journal's online edition is free for today only.

I remember when the easiest way to check my stocks was to grab the Journal every morn. I have to think market lurkers & business news junkies are also jumping ship to more convenient, (and always gratis) electronic sources.

We actually get the off-line version (mostly for Mrs. MBA's business sensibilities), but I see no reason to pay even more (yes, you have to pay more even if you get the paper) for online access. I didn't even bother perusing today, and I was the one who took the time to post it.

I would have to imagine that more people are starting to seriously consider dropping it since Murdoch purchased it. The writing and reporting is generally very good (but ignore the always biased editorial pages... exactly why do papers allow anonymous Op-Eds, anyway?), and you get a lot more quality over other nationals like USA Today (sorry professor). Now that the New York Times has made its content free, I wonder if the WSJ will do the same. And, honestly, since I have been able to read more of the NYT online, I have been thinking about asking the warden to switch.

Our local rag, the San Diego Union-Tribune is way, way biased to business and developers, and we quickly learned it was not worth the subscription price. For the sixth/seventh largest city in the US, it really is a pathetic paper. It makes the Chicago Tribune look world-class in comparison. Hell, the Daily Herald is better (seriously).
