He rides up a curved staircase so narrow, his front wheel actually goes along the bannisters at some points.

...that an renovations or repairs required of some of these "historic" homes was done there with taxpayer money. I seem to remember the former owner of TSR getting some benefit of this type through her husband's family. If true, the Earl would hardly have to worry about damages.
