Competition, Honesty, Integrity?

According to the Olympic Charter, established by Pierre de Coubertin, the goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practised without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.

Oh, okay... easy enough. Friendship, Solidarity and Fair Play. Solid principles to be the core, the foundation of everything an organization stands for...

International Olympic Committee (IOC) officials have cut a deal with China to allow the blocking of sensitive websites from media during the Beijing Games

What. The. Fuck.

Recall, if you will, that back in August of '07, China criticized the Dalai Lama (and others) by saying attempts to link political issues (like Dafur and Tibet) to the Summer Olympics "betrayed the spirit of the Games."

Both China AND the IOC are hypocrites of the highest magnitude.
